The round table, in the room and in the shop

Two featured looks at the same idea — a round pedestal table with a red base — first set in a finished dining room, then standing in the workshop where round tables take shape.

In the dining room. Round table with a red pedestal base and dark top in a white shiplap dining room — white slipcovered chairs with one pulled aside to the left, a dark buffet matching the table top shifted to the right behind a chair, a single plate with a white linen napkin at each setting, a simple black chandelier, an expanded window, and a simple single-line painting visible on the buffet.

A red-base round, set for dinner

One chair is pulled aside to the left so the red pedestal base stays in full view. Around the table: slim white slipcovered chairs, white linens, and a single plate at each setting — nothing on the table but a low, simple centerpiece.

Behind the chair on the right, the buffet is finished in the same dark wood as the table top, with the single-line painting resting on it where it can be seen. The wide window and white shiplap keep the room bright against the dark top and red base.

A round table puts everyone in the conversation — no head of the table, no corners.

Every ARK round table is made to order. In the Table Builder, choose a round top and a diameter — 36″, 42″, 48″, 54″, or 60″, or a custom size — in any wood of your choice.

  • Trestle, mission & farmhouse forms — or your design

Starting points, not limits

Every design below is a starting point. Change the wood — any wood of your choice — the dimensions, the edge (soft or sharp), and the base, or bring us a photo and we'll build from that.

Any wood of your choice

All ARK tables are solid hardwood — no veneer over particleboard. The woods below are favorites, not a limit: with international experience sourcing rare materials and importing, ARK can source the wood you have in mind. Choose your wood in the Table Builder above — each choice there shows the wood itself.

Don't see your wood? Ask for it in your builder summary — rare and imported woods are confirmed from the actual material sourced for your table.

Our story · In the workshop

Hand-crafted by two men. Twenty years in the making.

Behind ARK Custom Design is a disabled veteran whose international experience sourcing rare materials — and importing them — now goes into every table. If there's a wood you want, chances are we know where to find it.

Every table is hand-crafted by two men with 20 years of proven history, working in the Amish style: honest solid wood, joined with wood dowels, built to be refinished, not replaced. A solid top can be sanded and re-oiled after years of homework, holidays, and hot dishes — a table that gets better with use instead of wearing out.

Sizing Guide

How big should it be?

Plan on about 24″ of width per person, and leave 36″ between the table edge and walls or furniture so chairs can move comfortably.

Between sizes? For custom work, we recommend sizing to the room first and the guest list second.

Questions

Before you order

How long does a custom table take?

Most commissions take 6–10 weeks from approved design to delivery, depending on wood availability and complexity. We'll confirm a firm timeline for your table.

Can I see the actual wood before you build?

Yes. After your consult, we send photos and video of the specific slabs available for your table, and you approve one before milling begins.

How do I care for a solid wood table?

Use coasters and trivets day to day, wipe spills promptly, and re-oil oil-finished tops once or twice a year — a 15-minute job. Every table includes a care kit and instructions.

Do you deliver and set up?

Yes — delivery includes bringing the table in, assembling the base, leveling it, and removing packaging. Delivery and setup details are confirmed based on distance and access.

What if my size isn't listed?

That's normal for custom work. Use the builder to get close, note your exact dimensions when you send the design, and we'll build to the inch.

What does “Amish style” mean for my table?

It means traditional, hand-crafted construction: solid wood, careful joinery using wood dowels, and no shortcuts. Every ARK table is hand-crafted by two men with 20 years of proven history.

Can I choose soft or sharp edges?

Yes — every table can be finished with soft, rounded edges or sharp, crisp edges. Pick your preference in the builder, or tell us when you send your design.

Can you source a rare or imported wood?

Yes. Behind ARK is a disabled veteran with international experience sourcing rare materials and importing them. Tell us the wood you want — any wood of your choice — and we'll source it and confirm the details from the actual material.

Ready to build yours?

Send us your builder summary, a photo of your room, or just an idea — and the wood you'd love, however rare. ARK Custom Design will reply with next steps and slab options.
